Velvet Covered Steel

He is velvet covered steel
the essence of meekness,
all compassionate and real,
with no hint of weakness.

He's a lion and a lamb
a strong and mighty tower,
the sovereign Great I Am,
yet humble in His power.

He is God and man,
a carpenter and king,
so modest yet so grand,
the Lord of everything!

He's adorned in royalty
yet a crown of thorns He wore.
He died at Calvary,
our debt for sin He bore.

He came to save mankind,
and will judge the nations;
He was human and divine,
the God of all creation!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
