The Primrose Path

The Primrose Path

When Jesus walked the earth
and people He would greet,
no primrose path existed
beneath His holy feet.

Christ's life exemplified
God's mandate from above,
a life of self-denial,
obedience and love.

Christ endured flogging,
rejection and misery,
mocking, pain and loneliness
as well as cruelty.

So when He said to follow Him
and shoulder our own cross,
He never taught it would be
without suffering or loss!

Beware of those who teach
there is an easy way;
there never was a primrose path
and there isn't one today!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
