Recipe for a Christmas Cake

Looking for a recipe
In files of Long ago
There was this one
With a simple logo

Merry Christmas cake for you
Three layers will just about do
First layer of emerald green
Covered with a creamy sheen

Second layer of fire engine red
In its icing a manger bed
Third layer of purest white
Glowing in the shimmering light

The cake of angel's food mix
Shepherds in the field tell how to fix
Three wisemen it is told
Keep baking details on hold

King Herod thougt the recipe fine
Asked the wisemen with him to dine
God warned them in a dream
Sent them another way full steam

This recipe is quite involved
Difficulties though can be resolved
With a merry and a grateful heart
The cake is finished from the start

Take a piece and pass one to a friend
That takes the cake to the very end

Merry Christmas to you
