I Remember When

The message does not come to mind
It was an evangelist in the pulpit
On a Sunday morning in my home church
In Youngstown, Ohio

About nine years of age, I stood quietly in the pew
At the end of the message my heart began to pound
The Holy Spirit opened my mind and spirit to my sin
I was a sinner, lost, going to Hell

But God loved me enough to send His Son to die for me
To save me from eternal damnation
If I repented of my sins, forsook them, accepted Christ as Savior
Kneeling where I had been standing in the pew

I found forgiveness, a change of heart, a new perspective
A spiritual journey began that day
With many turns and twists along the way
But I am Heavenward bound

A boy of nine found a new life in Christ
I remember when!
