Father's Day

Mother's Day and Father's Day for me are for reminiscing
Nostalgia kicks in big time as years past rollby unceasing

In my mind's eye I see the homes in which we lived
Mom and Dad in their rolls as Helpmate and Breadwinner respected

Mom never worked outside the home and couldn't drive
Dad to feed their large brood had to mightily strive

Garden, chickens, pigs, a cow or two
Were musts too, and work for us kids to do

Family conversations and going to church
In her prayers Mom never left us in the lurch

Laughter and tears, anger and sorrow, much pleasure
and some pain
Mom and Dad stood by us and taught us to do the same in loss or in gain

It is Father's Day, but Family day as well
For it takes Moms and Dads the full story to tell

It takes Moms and Dads the full story to tell
