Political Wags
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Other Poems by Quentin Clingerman

It's the season of the political wags
There's no good reason they're just full of gags
Gotta do the upsmanship, or putdownsmanship
Think it is so very cool, just hip

The good of the country is farthest from mind
Listening to all of these wags does grind
Get my ax out should be as sharp as the wag
Using his political talk as an old oiled rag

Don't count on the issues being pursued
It's the exaggerations and rumors that must be embued
With power to hurt the opponent full blast
Get a laugh is the aim, it's a great repast

Belittle, make fun of; caustic sarcasm to wit
May be devilish funny but enlightenment not a bit
Political candidates must have tough hide
Going on the political seasons joyride

Going on the political seasons joyride
