Call Him What You Will

There is an Evil personified which stalks the earth
Leaving in his trail tragic consequences
Life wrenching and catastophic in his sadistic mirth
"Seeking whom he can devour" is his selfish license

Some in mockery and jest call him the Devil
Blaming him for their own mischeivous devisings
Red suit, horns, pointed tail, pitchfork in hand; this hellish rebel
"As an angel of light," the Bible divines

Lucifer, the dragon, the Evil One
The Force for mayhem and destruction
Sulphurous and onerous names one could mention
"Archangel ejected from Heaven," Prophet's declaration

Call him what you will
He's on our cases still
Faith and truth our only shield
That to his wiles we shall not yield

That to his wiles we shall not yield
