Oh, Little Poem

Oh, little poem of mine
Where will you fly so fine
Whose mind will you enlighten
Whose melancholy life may brighten

Oh, little poem of mine
Of simple and humble line
Whose eyes will light up
As though drinking from life's cup

That there are joys sublime
In simple metered rhyme
Which whisk us for awhile
From earth's testing and trial

Letting us in imagination soar
Settling on life's richest core
Of pleasures past and present
From life's treasurers which are lent

Oh, little poem of mine
May in some corner shine
Brightening some wayfarer's way
Before the close of this very day

Oh, Little Poem (c)2002 Quentin Clingerman
