It's like falling off a log or falling down the stairs
Perhaps rolling over and playing dead or musical chairs

It's like following the rainbow to its end
Or simply going round the bend

It's like getting on the gravy train
Maybe going down lover's lane

It's like paying the piper
Or changing the baby's diaper

It's like midnight madness
A really class act sadness

It's like running until you just plain tire
And jumping from the frying pan into the fire

It's like trying to be funny
Keeping your face sunny

It's like being shiny as a new penny
When you haven't any

It's like will this poem never end
Have I started an unsightly trend

There did you finally smile
It surely took a good while

It's like...

It's like... (c)2001 Quentin Clingerman
