The Soul-ox

The Soul-ox

The soul-ox was a stubborn being

Blisters appeared on a hardened yoke

Heavy burdens trailed year after painful year

Ignoring the Master’s call, blindly struggling along

Blisters popped, oozing soul-ox’s stop

Worn and useless, longing for restful peace

Remembrance fetches his spirit to leap

The Master’s call was easy and light

The soul-ox relaxed and gave up his fight

Grass became tastier bite after greener bite

Matthew 11:29-30

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;

For I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye

Shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
