Little Lost Bird
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

Little Lost Bird

A lost baby bird
Tossed from an aged oak tree
Plummets like a tiny acorn
Bouncing upon life's ground
Without strong enough wings its found
Helplessly chirping around
Amidst a cold cruel world
Longing to fly, reach the bluest sky
Calls up to God its maker

Sweetly singing Jesus' song
For many, many, years long
Soaring higher and higher
Wings stronger and stronger
With each breath of His name
Never the same
Lifted higher and higher
Flying up to Heaven it seems
Just like baby bird hopefully dreamed
Such a mighty name is Jesus

Any little lost bird
Once they have heard
Can take this Heavenly flight
Simply pure delight
Reaching amazing heights
Strongest wings for flying
Lost all their mournful sighing
Jesus is their song, all day long
Fly, little bird, fly
