Bent Branches
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

As the tree comes out of the box this year
The branches unfold a little bent and worn
My spirit unfolds a little bent and worn
I pray to my dear Father in Heaven
Please unfold my bent worn soul
Hundreds of lights waiting to adorn this tree
Wrapped around so carefully, tucked here and there
To shine with beauty, glow brilliantly
This year seems different, my spirit longing to be
Wrapped in His light of love for all who enters to see
Let my spirit shine with Christ's beauty glowing brilliantly
Tuck His beautiful love here, tuck His joyful love there
Plug my spirit into His forever life saving tree
Unfold my bent, worn branches hang His ornaments of love
Inside my heart, my soul, shining brightly for all to see
Until my spirit ascends with His unto eternity
