When the Peace Lily Blooms
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

When the peace lily blooms at my back door
Like a peace offering sent to God above
Amazed I stand for His peaceful love
While this special plant I've grown to adore
Blooms sweetest memories of days foregone
Of the dearest lady I call my mom
I acquired this plant on a dreadful day
The time this beautiful woman was called away
My thumb was never green on the houseplant scene
Until a Heaven sent peace lily appeared to stay
Like a peace offering sent from God above
A constant reminder of His glorious love
When the peace lily blooms on Thanksgiving day
Peaceful memories visited and came to stay
Thankful I am as I begin to pray
