Snake Pit
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

Sometimes people think stupid
Has been stamped on your forehead
Kindness being the major goal
Leaves a soul in a stupor
Like prey in a snake pit
Vipers appear everywhere
Tender hearts get shredded
Only the Lord's touch can repair
Restore the love that was once there
Place the mended heart back inside
To forever shine with His gracious light
To be armed for the battle, fit for His fight
