Lemon-aide

I stood back and stared and thought...

"oh deary me!"

I shaded my eyes...I could hardly see.

I looked in the can then up at the wall,

Oh this isn't lemon...

NO

not lemon at all.

The sun must've fallen from the sky overhead,

Chicken Little was right, it's just what he said!

A piece of it splintered on its rapid fall

And burst all over my bathroom wall.

I looked in the 'fridge, a lemon to find,

And there it was...the lemon rind...

It was certainly yellow, just like my wall,

But that wasn't what I meant...

No!

Not at all.

I cut it in half and there I did find,

The yellow I wanted

Not the bright rind!

I am hoping with time that its brightness fades,

But until it does...

I'll just wear my shades.
