Happy Spring

HAPPY SPRING!
Tulips and Jonquils and grass emerald green,
Weather so fickle you just want to scream!
Wednesday you're sleeveless. Friday a sweater.
Monday it's snowing and Tuesday's no better.
You cover those 'buds' so tender and new
and pray that the chill is above 32!
Sunday there's frost and you hunt up the scraper...
Now this wasn't predicted in Saturday's paper!
Two days it's 60...or somewhat higher,
Get out the mower! finally the grass is drier.
The sky was so blue, not a cloud in sight,
Before you are done, it's raining real light,
And before you can get inside the door,
That sprinkle becomes a steady downpour!
Then one morning you wake up and somehow you know,
Spring has taken her place...there'll be no more snow.
A south wind is blowing and may bring a storm,
But the breeze through your window is balmy and warm.
You dig out your shorts...put up that sweater,
'Cause from now on it'll only get better!
