Inner Ears

I write this story set to rhyme for I've been gone a long, long time.

Like the prodigal son who left his home, I too set out for this world to roam. For reasons here I cannot tell, I slipped and stumbled and literally fell.

Driven by losses, anger and lies, death and deceit and broken ties; I was looking for answers for all I'd endured, when life became painful, confusing and blurred.

My travels throughout the months and the years, are not to be told but were filled with tears. I hardened my heart, turned willful and wild...yet my Father still loved His wayward child.

Refusing to listen, rebellious years...I still couldn't close those inner ears. Once having a spirit linked to His heart, it could not be severed though I drew apart...from under His wings I was standing alone, yet He never stopped whispering, calling me home.

A journey through hell to stand at death's door, yet prayers kept me safe like never before. God's heart through His spirit still held my rein, whispering His love through my heartache and pain.

Though blinded by anger and distrusting fears, I could not turn off those inner ears. This prodigal child who'd fled like the wind....who'd crumbled and weakened and willfully sinned; was blessed with the answers I'd sought in my heart, fragments in pieces to make a whole part.

I believe this journey was meant to be, why I can't tell you...it's personal you see. But my Father knows all of the "whys" and sometimes blessings come in disguise. Sometimes wisdom has to be born from brushing with hell and a heart that is torn.

I turned my heart homeward, answered His call,  He knows I am fragile to trusting it all.  I learned the answers I needed to know...the rest will come as days come and go.
