Hidden

It's black outside my windows,
No stars shining bright.
Upon my lawn from dusk to dawn
Life continues hidden in the night.

And so it is within my heart,
Though silent is the beat,
Unseen the fire....this hearts desire,
Burning with such heat.

Like the dark of nighttime,
Unseen to you and me
Life will flow...like stars that glow,
In hearts no one can see.

To look outside my window,
From the light I stand within,
All life is gone upon my lawn,
Like it's never been.

But all is an illusion,
For naught one thing has changed.
I cannot see what I know to be,
And naught was rearranged.

So 'tis my heart within me,
When darkness fills my night;
The unseen fire...the hearts desire,
Is only out of sight.
