I have to tell you about my doves,

and you'll think I've lost my mind.

It slipped our of gear, one long ago year

But perhaps you'll still be kind?

They began to appear all around me,

To observe me with great intent.

Fluttering down to alight all around

And I believe they are heaven sent.

I know in my spirit just who they are,

no...they're not "possessed" in any way.

Yet thru their eyes, I'm watched in disguise

And they're with me every day.

It began at a time when I needed

assurance and comfort and love.

God sent me these creatures with soft downy features..

His beautiful, peace filled dove.

When my life is evenly tracking,

their presence I notice is few.

But when I am down, they gather 'round

and softly to me they will coo.

Skiddish by nature, they'll scatter

at the slightest movement or sound.

Yet my doves come so near, without much fear

They'll stay close and hold their ground.

So think what you will...that I've lost my mind?

My imagination has gone astray?

But listen my friend...this isn't the end....

I'll tell you my Cardinal story...

someday.
