God is in the Mornings

God is in the mornings,

Before the crack of dawn,

When sleepy eyes are opening

With stretches and with yawns.

When covers warm and cozy

Are tossed aside once more,

To greet a chilly morning

As my feet hits the floor.

Before the day gets busy,

While stillness fills the air,

I pull my robe around me

And know that He is there.

Coffee's done, I fill my cup

Then settle in my chair,

With quiet mind to listen

And I know that He is there.

Before the sun arises,

The dawn is shades of gray,

Morning dew is glistening,

Darkness slowly creeps away.

I sip my morning coffee,

Say a little prayer;

'Cause God is in the mornings,

In this quiet time...

He's there.
