Nothing Special

I sing in the shower.
I dance in the rain.

I laugh away tears.
I cry away pain.

Can you see the devastation?
The hesitation in my eyes.
Did you see through my smile,
When all my hope died?

The manifestation of my frustration,
Of becoming who I should be,
I am unsure...
I am insecure...
All of this...is me.

I have simple pleasures,
Of beauty, of grace, of wishes divine.
Don't tell me yours, I won't tell you mine.

What's so bad about wishing upon a star?
I told you who I am...
Don't lie about who you are.

So look at the moon and consider being realistic.
Listen closely; you're just another teen statistic.
