Stormy Nights

Thunder, lightening, dark of night,
No moon, no stars, just brilliant light,
To catch in shadows....instant flash,
Raindrops that scurry and hurry and dash
Against my windows to trickle and run,
And drip off the sill in puddles undone.
'Til they slither in patterns of random travel,
And squeeze through the cracks into the gravel.

Black clouds build and boil unseen,
In the dark of night, to gather and glean,
Moisture sucked into the skies,
'Til rain is pouring in sobbing cries.
The groan of thunder faintly heard,
Distant growling storms are lured
To fill my night with awesome power,
Displaying might, to make me cower.
And then the stillness fills the air,
Rain washed world without a care.
Thirsty earth drinks it's fill,
And streams go rushing down the hill.

Morning dawns, the air is clean,
No more thunderclouds are seen.
Birds a'twitter catch that worm...
Makes my tummy churn 'n squirm!
Sun is rising in the east,
Brings warm breezes,
Filled with peace.
