The Rights We Have Are Given by God

The “Rights” We Have Are Given By God…

It seems like just about

every day and night…

I hear about someone who

wants their “civil rights.”

Many think everything we need is

found in the constitution.

So they look to our courts and

government institutions.

Rather than looking to the Bible

for what “ails them.”

They look to a piece of paper,

that will one day fail them!

As many refuse God… Believing there

must be a “separation.”

The moral fabric is being torn

 all across this great nation!

The only “rights” we have are given

by our supreme being.

He is God!  He’s in control!

And rules over everything!

There’s nothing “civil” about sin,

and it’s evil force.

We need to look at what is our

“spiritual source!”

If it’s God and his word that you

try to leave behind.

You’ll fall into the ditch.

With the “blind leading the blind.”

If you may seek “civil rights,”

there’s still an empty void.

If God’s principles of living in your life

 are not employed!

You’re not your own.  You were

 bought 2000 years ago!

This same God who died on a cross

has a claim on your soul!

If anyone has a “right,”  It’s God

who has a claim on you!

It happened when he said, “forgive them.”

“They know not what they do!”

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
