We Need the Power of God in Church!

We Need The Power of God In Church!

There was “excitement” at church.  Many were invited!

The type of entertainment they had.

Had already been decided!

There was something that would

 “stir up” the newest fashion.

The pastor said to do this with a “compelling passion.”

There was included loud instruments and a guitar.

They figured this would bring in people from afar!

Of course they wanted to charge for “admission.”

Why not?  This would “fulfill” their earthly mission!

This seems to be the way many churches are going…

The power of God they seem to be “avoiding.”

Rather than seeking God’s holiness

and forgiveness of sins…

They look to what can self-gratify within!

Are we here to seek a worldly kind of “entertainment.”

Or to seek the presence of God this very moment!

It comes from spending time in seeking HIM in prayer.

Wherever we are…  He‘s God!

And is always there!

If it’s “excitement” church gives...  We’re  in the “wrong place!”

We’re simply here as a sinner saved by God’s grace!

Our “thrill” is in Jesus Christ.  And him alone!

He brings peace and joy to us and our home!

Jesus brings to all what money can’t afford!

He’s our provider, comforter, and Lord!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
