The Dad I Once Knew...

The Dad I Once Knew…

What happened to the dad I knew

from the one I know today?

To be honest, I’m almost at a loss

 for words to say.

As a young man, he was there

 to guide my hand.

He was always there to help and understand.

We livied in a houise we could barely affor.

But he remained a strong example of the Lord.

Because of people like him, I’m what I’ve become.

One who loves his dad as one of his four sons

But over the years, he has seemed

to have changed.

He often says words that are rather

ungodly and “strange.”

He’s so involved with others,

his family is “second place.”

I can almost see a different look

 of anger on his face.

PLEASE Lord Jesus, touch him

 all throughout.

May he think of what Christ’ example

 is really about.

May his heart be broken and his life renewed.

Please help him Lord to be an example of YOU!

Help him Jesus to give you love

 and full attention.

May he seek you and your word

for all of his direction.

Help him to be the Godly

father that he needs to be.

This would help and

 mean so much to me!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
