Why Can't We Forgive as Joseph Did?

Can We Forgive As Joseph Did???

We read about how Joseph forgave his brothers.

Why do so many can’t even forgive one another?

Joseph’s brothers got angry in a jealous rage.

He was thrown into a pit at such a young age.

I often wonder what went throw his mind that day.

I’m sure he had some choice words he wanted to say.

He was later sold into slavery into the Potiphar’s hands.

He trusted God, even though he didn’t fully understand.

He believed God had a divine purpose and a meaning.

God’s purpose for his life he later was revealing.

He went to prison for refusing an “inviting temptation.”

And firmly choose to have God as his foundation.

He was later put in charge to be second in command.

And a famine was to take place all over the land.

The same brothers who once had rejected him.

Came to him for food, but they didn’t know him.

The same ones that meant harm to him, bowed down.

Joseph was their only source of help for miles around.

Joseph held back the tears as he soon forgave them.

He had words of compassion he would say to them.

He restored to them what they had need of.

There was a great family reunion to speak of!

May this be a reminder to everyone who reads this.

We need to put each other’s trespasses beneath us!

If we can’t forgive like Joseph, how can God forgive us?

How can Jesus give us his sweet love and trust us?

Not forgiving someone…  Is it really worth it?

Give it to God and let him take care of it!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
