Even When I Feel Alone, Jesus Is
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 3 times

Other Poems by James Pemberton

Even When I feel Alone, Jesus Is With Me!

Many times, I’ve felt forsaken and alone.

I felt this way, even with my family at home.

I gave a lot of my time to my sisters and brothers.

I wanted to do what God calls; “serve one another.”

No matter how good my intentions were to be.

Many in church wanted nothing to do with me.

Often, I’d ask the question; “where did I go wrong?”

“Isn’t giving to others where my heart belongs?”

I suppose my mission didn’t fit the “church agenda.”

Some people in church said; “we don’t need ‘ya!”

How harsh this seemed.  I wanted to do my best.

I wanted to do my part and give God the rest.

I spent a lot of time in prayer and the cross.

I didn’t realize what serving Jesus would cost.

No matter how hard I tried,

many people were the same.

They criticize the work others do,

  in Jesus’ name.

Too many in church are focused on “religious things.”

Many haven’t sacrificed their time on Godly things.

It’s like they look to their pastor,

to tell them what to do…

Their attitude’s like; “we don’t want

 to be around you!”

I’m glad Jesus was there and faithfully listened.

I want to faithfully give him my focus and attention.

Thank you Jesus, for seeing the best

 in what I endeavor!

You’re always there for me,

 today and forever!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
