On the Journey

On the Journey

Upon a traveled road well worn,

the dawning sun gilds fields of corn

as far as I can clearly see

midst hallowed light, this new day born.

In morn's cool breeze, I'm clearly free

of noise and din, such cadency!

The country holds me in the breeze;

there flows a certain harmony.

A hawk soars high o're distant trees

in balance perfect, utmost ease;

upon a hill where road meets sky,

I'm introduced to wooded lees-

that call for me to then espy

a forest stirred to silent sigh,

as peace He lends me, by and by-

as peace He lends me, by and by-

                                    John 14:17..."Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give you."

                                    poem is written in Rubaiyat form, as Robert Frost's

                                                'Stopping By Wood On a Snowy Evening.'

(We live in a small town surrounded by cornfields, and most stores are in the next town, about 3
 miles away.  The high corn in the fields always reminds me of the approaching Autumn, when
 it's harvested.)
