The Butterfly

The Butterfly

(a Terza Rima sonnet)

Within a shaded woodland, overgrown,
a butterfly uplifted gentle wings-
and fluttered out into the deep unknown-

arising into sunlight's ribbonings
shown through the canopy.  The forest floor
grew small beneath its flight of harkening-

towards warmth and light it had not felt before.
In sudden peaceful pause on highest branch,
it basked before the Heaven's azure door-

then spirited again in winged dance,
uplifting wings towards beaming sun in sky-
it soared out into all the world's expanse...

in grace-filled flight aflutter, just as I;
I read His Word, and I'm the butterfly.
