'This Autumn
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Lucia Kiersch Haase
Other Poems by Lucia Kiersch Haase

'Tis Autumn when the country beckons, calling
where on the roadside, rustic flora greets
the winded leaves that from the trees flow, falling
most vibrantly for human eyes to meet.

'Tis Autumn where the fields before the harvest
glow warmed in sun, all stirred and shimmered gold;
'Tis when the farmer thinks of Winter's rest
while gazing at his bounty sevenfold.

'Tis Autumn when the air begins to chill,
and just to breathe it in becomes a blessing,
and just to gaze upon it, vale to hill
means more than all these thoughts I am expressing

in praise to our Creator for the season-
in awe to take part in such rhyme and reason.
