Compositions

(an Irish deibidhe)

Fire beneath and spark of flint,

I search inside for footprints.

Midst flutes bone-tuned air of me,

the root-grown ground wanes, weary.

Outside, ticking stones turn hands;

calypso grounds pour inland.

I hold in streams, God-song flight;

themes flesh darkness and daylight.

(the Irish deibidhe is a form which rhymes monosyllables with the unstressed

syllable of a 2 syllable word.  Each line is 7 syllables.)
