Awakening

(a Welsh sonnet)

Unfolding hands, the kneeling dawn
stands up - the looming darkness gone,
unfurling arms of light filled praise
before all Heaven's watchful gaze.
Within an ever-faithful stance,
beholding utmost countenance-
the hymn of day expresses birth
of morning o're this hallowed earth.

Of adoration, I'm aware;
creation worships, as a prayer
divinely set in passion's grace
with jubilation on its' face -
heart-strong, ground-held in bold conviction-
until the evening's benediction.

Genesis 1: The Beginning...In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth...

(The Welsh sonnet is 14 lines of iambic tetrameter, with a couplet rhyme scheme.)
