A peaceful morning here upon the porch-

I'm listening to the quiet of the breeze

while sun begins to shine as though a torch

enlightening the grass and all the trees.

The early birds have woken, taking wing-

a sparrow here or there from tree to tree;

I harken to a finch or two that sing...

a praise I know that isn't meant for me.

I hear another song - a thankful one-

a silent one that so fulfills a need

midst beauty of this new born day begun-

a joy no words express, that is the seed

of grace, the flame within that is the Son,

and love unspeakable each day begun.
