At Day's End...

At Day's End

A thing of beauty, I can hear;

it 'tis the goldfinch singing near-

exuberant before the night

midst early evening's firelight...

a lasting praise before my sleep

of new finch symphonies, reborn.

But yet tonight, another scale

will glow in darkness without fail;

'tis when the night shall then unfold

each star He flung...to then behold...
