Humility

Humbleness is not what our culture craves.
You deserve it – grab all you can –
That’s what you hear from the “Susans and Daves.”
Success is what makes you a man.

Selfish is the opposite of humble-
Just thinking of me, me, me!
If I’m not first, my feelings just crumble.
Think of others first is the key.

Being humble frees from the tyranny
of self as God helps us to grow.
Putting self first drenches humility.
It is God’s Grace we need to know.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
