Be Still

Be Still

Relax – really trust God for life’s trials –

That’s what I really ought to do,

But inclination is to try my wiles

And work real hard to “see it through.”

When I am thrust into a vast unknown

That challenges my ev’ry thought,

Where anxious fears are ever overblown,

I am so thankful I’m blood-bought!

When I rest confidently in Your care

I’m at peace ‘cause You’ve gone before.

Of Your certain strength I am made aware

As I read Your deeds by the score.

Jesus, help me rest in Your perfect love

In the difficult days ahead.

Please send me your peace through the Holy Dove.

By Him and Your Word I am fed.

When I ask for bread, will You give me stones?

Oh, I’ve known Your supply before.

Help me really trust while in flesh and bones

And know Your true peace to the core.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
