Scenes of Christmas

Scenes of Christmas

Cardinals lite on beautiful white snow
Nestled on branches of evergreen trees.
Moonlight makes it all seem to glow.
It’s a beautiful sight our eyes to please.

One year our tree was from Mom Poynter’s yard,
So fresh and fragrant when we brought it in.
Gold beads made it look like a Christmas card,
Red velvet bows where cardinals had been.

A star on the top finished it just right,
Our all time favorite, this Christmas tree.
A reminder of that first Christmas night
When Jesus was born, our Savior to be.

Now years have passed and they’re with Jesus.
Makes one think how rich all those years have been.
Just think what is coming since He’s freed us
From that slavery to our inborn sin.

Think of Christmas and no old rugged cross-
The purpose for which He came to the Earth.
A bad thought with no profit and much loss,
Life then so meaningless and without worth.

Will we celebrate Christmas in Heaven
When we’re with One who came  and died for us?
Will we even remember Earth’s leaven?
We’ll praise and adore Him - live with Him thus!

Makes me think of that old hymn,
“Hallelujah, What a Savior!”
