Familiar?

It’s deep, deep in my heart.
Can I write about it?
Think, pray, the hurt’s a part -
Remembering won’t let it quit.

God requires repentance.
Tells us to forgive them -
Hundred forty instance.
Do not feed on the hurt that’s grim.

While they live distantly,
It’s easier to cope,
But God still speaks to me,
And I’m hanging by that old rope.

Think I’ve forgiven ‘til
Something pops in my face.
Same old hurt is there still
‘Cause I’m part of the human race.

I’ll keep on praying ’til
God, my own heart does change.
His mercy and grace will
My thoughts and feelings rearrange.

The pain of sin is very deep. And while God can forgive and forget, many times our memories continue to haunt us. May we always be focused on His will and live according to His purpose- and find real joy.
Nice poem.
