Overwhelmed

They walked and talked and lived with Him
Yet their understanding was dim.
They witnessed many miracles
Yet had not seen the brilliance of the “gem.”

He told them that He’d have to die
For our sin – they could not see why.
They wanted Him to stay with them,
Could not conceive of His Home “in the sky.”

He took the three to a mountain
Brilliance shown as from a fountain
No words could tell how they each felt
After his death they’d see- that’s for certain.

Peter tried to prevent the cross
It would mean overwhelming loss.
In the very presence of God –
Resistance gone – the message came across!

When Jesus cried “It Is Finished”
No defeat had Him diminished!
Complete obedience was shown
Plan of salvation then was all furnished.

Then three days later He Arose -
A real body and wearing clothes.
Some days later He ascended.
Now they would walk by faith as on life goes.

“ To these He also presented Himself alive after appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.”   Acts 1:3  (NASB)
“ So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight.”  2 Corinthians 5: 6 & 7 (NKJV)
