A Tale of Two Kings

David was tending sheep tho' just a lad.
He, in his youth, was regenerated by God.
He was least in the eyes of his own Dad
But was anointed and given the nod.

The Spirit of God was upon David.
But Saul hardened his heart and The Spirit left him.
Are you away from God - your life raided?
We can all keep fit in God's "Spirit gym."

David was very, very mere human.
He made some mistakes and then he sinned willfully.
The prophet came his sin to illumine
And David confessed - bowed down visibly.

Better to deal with sin,  don't make a fuss.
Do it right now while in your mind it is fresher.
Saul should be a warning to all of us.
In David, we can see God's grace under pressure.

May there be more of Him and less of me!
