This Is Fall

This Is Fall

When the mild days of Summer fade

To the coolness of Fall,

My heart wants to sit in the shade

Still feeling Summer’s crawl.

Leaves turn yellow, goldened by sun

Shining out this morning.

Kids rake a pile to have some fun.

‘Tis Winter's nice warning.

But when it rains, it seems so glum.

We move quickly indoors

Where the furnace fan does its hum

And think of making s’mores.

Soon snow and cold will be out there

And we’ll want to shovel,

A chore I like and used to share.

Now the plow will “gobble.”

We’ll wish that we could stay indoors

Instead of going out.

To miss appointments we implore –

T’would be a plan we’d tout.

We praise God for all the seasons

Even for the Winter,

But all our days are good reasons

To keep Him at center!
