Imagining and Reality

 Imagining and Reality

Imagining I could dance in ethereal moonlight…

Thinking I’m a beautiful three year old in a new dress…

A feeling that I still fondly remember and hold tight.

Imaginings of childhood are now happily confessed.

The brevity of life is not my imagination.

Like Moses, I’m reflecting that it is quickly passing.

Should I dwell on that fact, I fear that faith could be undone,

So I think of heaven’s joys that will be all-surpassing.

I look out at the sky and imagine how I will fly

Right past the trees and clouds and airplanes left without pilots.

Then I’ll be so very happy to bid this world goodbye,

Whether it’s up or out, I’ll have no need for grassy plots.

Help me, dear Lord, that I will live this life creatively.

Teach me to number my days…give me a heart of wisdom.

Help me NOT to just fill time, but live qualitatively

Before family, neighbors and friends – whatever may come.
