Example or Warning

When you leave, will there be a vacancy?

What will it mean to those all around?

Do you live in a stoic complacency,

Just passing time, or therein abound?

Is there caring with heart, soul and mind?

Are you miserly with funds and love?

God gives to us so we can give in kind,

Lay up treasures in our Home above.

Is the main purpose here to live for Him,

Show those who’re loved a good example?

Selfish ambition leaves little for them;

Christian perspective, then, you trample.

What is the legacy we want to leave

When moving from this earth to Heaven?

Is it enough just to know they will grieve?

Don’t you want True Life in hearts graven?

Then be their example, not a warning.

True joy and happiness then can abound.

When Christ comes in, it’s like a new dawning.

Lift others to Him where real Life is found.

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews: 12:1 & 2

“So teach us to number our days, that we may present to Thee a heart of wisdom.  Psalm 90:12
