What Made This Nation Great?

What Made This Nation Great?

As I reflect on God and his wonderful creation…

I think about what’s become of our nation!

What made it great?  Someone may ask.

Think about how long this country will last!

What made this nation great, wasn’t it’s constitution.

Nor government programs or it’s institutions!

It was because our found fathers believed in prayer!

They believed in a God who’s always there!

Our freedoms and laws had a common thread to find…

It was because there was God, our creator, in mind!

The ten commandments, we often proudly displayed.

It wasn’t long ago, one wasn’t “afraid” to pray!

Many were proud to display a cross

 or a nativity scene.

Many now try to remove God,

from just about everything!

It’s time that we all come back to the God of the Bible.

And forsake any kind of love for any false idols!

It’s time we honor God with a deep confession!

And allow Christ to be our lord, with a passion!

Greatness isn’t achieved by the outward things

But by the kind of life that living for Christ brings!

Awesome and great is our Lord!  Worthy of praise!

Let’s honor his greatness!  All of our days!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
