Do You Love Me As Christ Does?

Do You Love Me As Christ Does?

If there was something you could change,

what would it be?

Apparently, you’ve been really

disappointed in me.

I’m not sure it was something I did

or something I said.

It’s almost like you’re upset and

“wish I were dead.”

You said you’re follower of Christ

and his love and grace.

Yet, each time I stop by, you shut the

door in my face.

Is this the kind of way that a “Christ follower”

should act?

Is the kind of example Christ lies for us,

fiction or fact?

Christ gave us an example of love

 and forgiveness divine.

We need his attitude in being compassionate

and kind.

If there are those who we want to

“completely shut out.”

Then, you don’t know what being a Christian is all about.

We tend to make many excuses for those we avoid.

How then, can a Godly peace and victory

ever be enjoyed?

It’s when we use our own reasoning that this

takes a wrong turn.

You should apply Gods’ word daily with

 the upmost concern.

His word commands us to love one another

 A Jesus would.

Often, Biblical loving is neglected,

ignored and misunderstood.

There’s a purpose to this message that

I pray becomes clear.

We need to walk and act in a Godly love

that’s true and sincere.

If we don’t, we fool only ourselves and bring

Jesus shame.

May the way that we treat others bring

honor to HIS name!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
