Jesus Wants Us to Forgive Others!

Jesus Wants Us to Forgive Others!

I know of someone who’s hanging on to bitterness.

This has caused, anxiety and unforgiveness!

What this person did to him was very hurtful.

The person that did it to him, isn’t remorseful.

He still somehow tries to punish this person.

I suppose, he’s trying to “teach him a lesson.”

A “lesson” at what cost?  Some have asked him.

His anger is evident, even to those close to him.

He rejects the truth that God’s word gives him.

And chooses whatever “common sense” tells him.

A believer of Christ, shouldn’t be filled with anger!

God’s word clearly tells us, this brings danger!

If we’re going to try to “punish” those who mistreat us.

Where, in God’s mercy and love, does this leave us?

God says to love your enemies and those who hurt you!

How else will Christ’s love be able to touch through you?

Christ is the perfect example and gave us the ability.

To bring to others, his peace, love and stability!

Jesus knows the pain and suffering we often endure.

But wants us to forgive others!  That’s for sure!

“Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you!”

This is easy to say. .. Yet, difficult to do!

We need to share Christ’s forgiveness, by his word…

His compassion in us needs to be daily stirred!

If God is for us…  Then who can be against us?

Let’s invite him to come,

and forever change us!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
