Helping A Friend

Helping a "Friend"

You may have tried to help
 a "friend" in need.
Many "hard luck" stories
 to you he does feed.

You try to help him.  And this
makes you feel good.
But this "friend," isn't being honest
Like a friend should.

Then something happens.
You begin to say.
"Lord...  Why isn't he being
truthful with me...  today?"

If your motive is love.
Then you are not wrong.
The principle of giving is
what really belongs
.

Your "friend" will answer to
God for doing his part.
God is the true judge and
really knows his heart.

Just keep giving to others.
Keep doing your best.
Give everything to God.  Let him
 take care of the rest.

Lay your treasures up in heaven
 and you will see.
The riches of God in you.
throughout eternity!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
