Reaching the Poor and Desitute...

Reaching the Poor And Destitute...

While on earth, Christ reached
out to the poor & destitute.
He visited the tax collector,
the sick and the prostitute.

Never once held back his love
for the sick or the poor.
It was for all mankind
that he came for!

The religious leaders of the day
couldn't believe their eyes!
The meek and lowly people—not once—
did he despise.

Those whom were rejected were
 shown mercy and love.
He was God's gift sent
from heaven above.

Many Christians “choose” who they'll
love and who they will not.
The poor and destitute often don't
 get a second thought.

Remember—child of God—
the message of the cross!
Christ came not for the righteous,
 but to seek the lost!

If you find yourself “choosing” whom
you'll spend time with today.
Perhaps it's time for you to get
on your knees and pray.

Pray that God will make your heart
 tender for every lost soul.
It's out in the highways and
biways you must surely go!

Maybe a sinner, to your house,
  needs an invitation,
To hear of God's redemptive plan of salvation.

Reaching the poor and lonely—
you'll be glad you did.
For then will you be like Jesus in how you live!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
