Lasting Peace

Lasting Peace

In sleepy little villages
where hills are lush and green,
a false sense of placidity
makes life seem so serene.

It's a tranquil picture
a slice of paradise,
but further down the road
the scene is not so nice.

Beauty turns to ugliness
in back alleys of humanity
when dreams become nightmares
in a portrait of reality.

On every street and avenue
in towns around the nation,
you can hear the cries
of souls in desperation.

Hoping for a life
where peaceful waters flow,
but they know it is a dream
no matter where they go.

Looking for green pastures?
I know where they're found;
in the presence of the Lord
where hope and peace abound!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
