Tug of War

Tug of War

The old man fights to stay alive,
he'll do anything to survive...
the new man lives victoriously
redeemed by Christ at Calvary.

The old man doesn't see the light
of his sinful, hopeless plight...
the new man strives to obey
acknowledging the Lord each day.

The two live in the same tent,
in opposition days are spent...
they are in a tug of war
just like Jacob and Esau.

The old man will have to go,
because the bible tells us so...
the one who bore our stripes and died
within the new man does abide.

The new man has the power to win,
he chooses to confess his sin...
the good Lord wants men to repent
and drive the old man from his tent!

Romans 6:6&7
Galatians 5:17&24

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
